Chocolate balls - the ideal little treat for the whole family
Chocolate balls. One of the first things Swedish children learn to bake, or make I should say as they don’t require any baking. Very easy to make, the perfect activity on a rainy day when the kids are looking for something sweet!
This is what you need for one batch (it makes about )
120 g / 1 1/4 cup porridge oats
75 g / 1/4 cup of sugar
100 g of butter (not too cold)
3 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
1 tsp vanilla paste or extract
3 tbsp of slightly cooled coffee
Desiccated coconut or sprinkles (or both)
Method
Mix all the ingredients together in a bowl using your hands. Make sure you mix thoroughly as you don’t want to end up with lumps of butter! This is a great acitivty for kids who don’t mind getting their hands dirty.
Just grab some of the mixture with your hands and roll into balls. You can make them as small or big as you’d like.
Rolls the balls in the coconut or/and sprinkles.
You can eat them straight away or keep them in the fridge. I’d recommend to take them out of the fridge at least 15 minutes before eating, as they taste nicer when they’re not too cold.
Store the chocolate balls in a tin in the fridge. They will last for up to 2 weeks (but they never last more than 2 days in my house!)
