Chocolate Granola

A while back, I started looking at ways to save on my weekly grocery shopping (I’m sure I’m not the only one). One of the things I noticed I was spending quite a lot on was granola, so I decided to start making my own. It took me a while to come up with a recipe I liked, but finally, I did.

This granola recipe is a big favourite in our house. It’s not too sweet, even if it still has plenty of sweetness from the honey. And you get lots of good nutrition from the oats, nuts and coconut. A great money saver, too😊

Chocolate Granola recipe

250 g of porridge oats
250 g mixed nuts and seeds
100 ml coconut oil (melted)
100 ml honey
3 heaped tbsp cocoa powder
50 ml sunflower oil
1/2-1 tsp salt (preferably sea salt flakes)
1-2 handfuls of dried fruit
1-2 handfuls of coconut chips

Mix the oats, nuts, seeds, and salt in a large bowl. Melt the coconut oil, remove from heat, then add the honey, sunflower oil and cocoa powder. Mix around until you can’t see any lumps of the cocoa powder. Pour it over the oats and nut mix and stir until everything is well combined. Roast in the oven at 150 degrees Celsius (130 degrees fan oven) for 40-50 min. Take out the tray and mix around every 15-20 min, making sure it doesn’t burn. You might still find it a little soft, but it will harden once it cools down. Add the dried fruit and coconut chips and pour into a large jar.

I like to enjoy this granola with Greek-style yoghurt and berries💜
